  • Spearhead organization of and funding for Challenge Day program for 3–6 schools in Central Oregon in 2009, directly reaching up to 1,800 Middle and High School students and indirectly impacting many hundreds more.
  • Provide pre- and post-Challenge Day program activities in schools and support long-range teen leadership in the communities.
  • Provide support for students to create community-based projects. Be a focal point and resource for teen leadership and facilitate the creation of a Teen Center in Central Oregon.

 

PROGRAMS:

  • Serendipity West Foundation (SWF) is instrumental in introducing Central Oregon schools to Challenge Day, gaining administration support and providing much-needed funding to make the programs a reality. In addition, Serendipity West Foundation is bringing other youth-centric programs to Central Oregon.

Completed Programs:

  • January 6-8, 2009: Redmond High School, Redmond – involved 261 students and over 70 adult volunteers
  • January 9, 2009: Elton Gregory Middle School, Redmond, OR – involved 90 students and 30 adult volunteers

Upcoming Programs:

  • April 13-15, 2009: Sisters Middle School and High School, Sisters, OR.
    • 300 students + 75 adult volunteers
  • September 28-30, 2009: Pilot Butte Middle School, Bend, OR
    • 300 students + 75 adult volunteers
  • October 1, 2009: Sunriver Middle School
    • 100 students + 25 adult volunteers
  • Established "Central Oregon’s Circle of Change" a local chapter of the National Challenge Day organization. This group will be instrumental in keeping the "Be The Change" movement and long-range teen and community programs running in Central Oregon school campuses and communities. .

 

PROGRAM COSTS:

  • Challenge Day requires a 3-day minimum program. The cost for a three-day program is approximately $12,000
  • Schools systems need your support to make these programs a possibility
